England won the toss and chose to bat first and there were some useful contributions from Sarah Taylor (45) and Tammy Beaumont (24). However, Jhulan Goswami picked up two quick wickets before Natalie Sciver scored a gritty fifty to help England to 228/7. In response, India lost Smriti Mandhana cheaply before Punam Raut and Harmanpreet Kaur smashed fifties to keep India in the hunt. Shrubsole, though, had other ideas and she ran through the Indian batting as Mithali Raj’s side lost seven wickets for 28 runs as they suffered heartbreak.
