Watch: Dhoni glares at Chahar, mock-hits CSK bowler with disdain after toss in CSK vs DC match; Twitter goes crazy
MS Dhoni stared at Deepak Chahar as he walked back after the toss, and mock-hit the Chennai Super Kings bowler.
Chennai Super Kings returned to action on Wednesday night when the side took on the Delhi Capitals in the 2023 Indian Premier League. CSK are currently second in the table and will be aiming to further strengthen their position at the spot with a win over the DC, who are currently at the bottom. Their captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni – had won the toss and opted to bat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, but a rather interesting incident happened right after the toss.
As Dhoni walked back following the toss, he chanced upon fellow teammate Deepak Chahar; it seemed the CSK bowler said something to Dhoni and the latter proceeded to playfully hit Chahar. The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
Chahar made a return to the playing XI earlier this month following his recovery from injury, and performed brilliantly in the side's last game against Mumbai Indians. The bowler registered figures of 2/18 in three overs, taking the important wickets of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma. The Super Kings eventually secured a comfortable six-wicket in the game.

With another win on Wednesday night, CSK will go to 15 points -- only one behind top-placed Gujarat Titans -- and further bolster their chances for playoffs. Interestingly, the Super Kings will meet Delhi Capitals again for their final match of the league phase on May 20.
Earlier, ahead of the Delhi Capitals clash, CSK's batting coach hailed the in-form Shivam Dube, calling him a “unique talent.” He added that he been playing at his best because of the clarity of his role.
"He is a unique talent. His ability to hit the ball out of the park is amazing. He has got phenomenal power. We see him in practice all the time. What is really important is the clarity on his role in the team, maybe we did not quite have it last year and the start of this year," Hussey said.
“Through Stephen Fleming and MSD (Dhoni), they have been very clear in the role they see him playing and how they see him playing at his best for us. In his mind, he is so clear about how he needs to go about playing in any situation.”
