19-year-old who murdered grandfather, two others in Haryana held in Delhi
A 19-year-old man, who allegedly murdered three persons in a week — one of them his grandfather — in Haryana’s Sonepat and Rohtak, was arrested from Dwarka Friday.
Police identified the suspect as Vikas alias Vicky, a resident of Rohtak and said he had six other cases of robbery and Arms Act against him in Haryana.
According to Deputy commissioner of police Anto Alphonse, a police patrol spotted two men on a motorcycle in Geetanjali colony of Jharoda Kalan on Thursday night.
“When they asked the two men to stop, they tried to flee,” he said. “The policemen, who were also on a bike, rammed their vehicle into the suspect’s bike causing them to fall. They then tried to run away in different directions. One of them fired a gun at the cops.”
The officer said that the two cops then retaliated. “Our men also fired one round each in the air and following a chase, managed to catch Vikas,” the officer said. During questioning, Vikas allegedly said he is a member of Sandeep alias Kala Jathedia gang from Haryana.
“He said he has committed three murders within a week this month,” the DCP said. “On March 7, he along with two of his aides shot dead his grandfather Ram Pal in his village Gaddi Kheri in Rohtak. Two days later, he and his four accomplices killed a bus driver in Sonepat. On Thursday, they shot dead a liquor contractor in Sonepat”
Alphonse said Vikas may have killed his grandfather over a property dispute, and that the other two murders seem to be fallout of gang rivalry. “Haryana police are probing the motive behind the murders,” he said.
