Man who posed as CRPF constable nabbed in Delhi metro station

The man claimed he was a CRPF trainee attached in Srinagar (J&K) and had come on leave to attend his mother’s funeral at Shamli.

A man hailing from Uttar Pradeshs’ Shamli district was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force at a Delhi Metro station Saturday night for allegedly impersonating a CRPF constable, a CISF official said on Sunday.

He was taken to the security room of CISF for enquiry but could not give any satisfactory explanation after he was seen loitering near one of the exits of the Chandni Chowk metro station. The station is one of the busiest in the metro network.

“He did not give any satisfactory reply and was not having any Force ID Card or any proof of being a force member. He revealed his identity as Nadeem Khan, resident of Shamli (UP),” Hemendra Singh, AIG CISF said.

The man also claimed to be a CRPF trainee attached to CRPF RTC Mohan Nagar at Srinagar (J&K) and that he had come on leave to attend his mother’s funeral at Shamli.

But a check with the CRPF centre in Srinagar and Shamli police found both his claims to be false. Two Aadhaar cards with different dates of birth, father’s name and addresses and a mobile phone were found on him when the CISF searched him, he said. The man was handed over to the Delhi Police to further probe the case and find out his motive, he said.

The CISF is responsible for the security of metro stations.
