Class 2 student identifies electrician accused of raping her in Delhi school: Cops

The electrician who was accused of allegedly raping a class two student inside the premises of a New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) school has been identified by the minor, police said on Friday.
“She identified him and he was arrested. He was working in the school since last the last 2 months. He’s being interrogated and the investigation is underway. The spot where the incident took place had no CCTV camera,” Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma told news agency ANI.
The incident had come to light when the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents after returning from school, located in the upscale Gole Market area, on Thursday.
She was allegedly raped by an electrician inside the institute’s premises, the police had earlier said.
The accused, identified as Ram Asre (37), has been working in the school for around a month and is a permanent electrician employed with the NDMC, the police said.
He has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under the relevant section of the IPC and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, they said.
