Their love story kicked off on Instagram and rapidly accelerated to late-night Skyping before abruptly terminating a few months ago.

But while it lasted, he felt like he was floating on a fluffy cloud.

The 29-year-old businessman first spotted her on Instagram. They got talking on the social networking platform itself and soon found that they both lived near Ansari Road.

A contact was made, but discreetly.

Nearly a month of telephone chats led to the big afternoon when the couple finally met face-to-face in the local McDonalds.

She, he remembers, “was dressed in an orange kameez and blue salwar!”

The friendship blossomed fast, as noted in his mobile phone diary: “Our first time at Lodhi Garden.”

Another entry right after a rendezvous at a monument: “Jantar Mantar Zindabad!”

And many more entries such as:

“Leather jackets make us look cute together!”

He had a keen sense of her stylish clothing, like that tricoloured dress “the day when she was feeling patriotic.” Or that floral top and white shoes she would sport so superbly.

But problems now crept in. They last met at M-Block Market, GK-I, in September before it all ended.

His mother opposed the match, but as far as he’s concerned, “she is my only true love.”

Now, things are getting out of hand fast. “Her parents are fixing a match for her.”

Even so.

Last week, he put a picture on Instagram of her old hand band with his wrist watch.

“She ‘clicked’ like’! He tells us, hoping that there might still be a happy ending after all.
