Man arrested for harassing American woman aboard Delhi-Mumbai flight

The police said a fight broke out between the two aboard a flight.

A man was arrested after a woman from the United States filed a written complaint against him, alleging harassment onboard a flight from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport to Mumbai, on Sunday night. The police said that a fight broke out between the man and the woman, which led to a scuffle in the aircraft.

According to the police, the incident took place around 10pm, when the passengers were boarding the aircraft. The man, who works in the stock market, kept his bag on a seat, to which the woman objected, and the argument turned int physical fight. The woman gave a written complaint; the man was offloaded and handed over to the Delhi Police.

Deputy commissioner of police (IGIA), Sanjay Bhatia confirmed that the man was booked under Section 354 of the IPC (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and was arrested.
