A 40-year-old woman died in Vikram Enclave in Sahibabad when the under-construction second floor of a house collapsed and the falling debris hit the woman on the first floor. The police said the family declined to get an autopsy conducted and did not lodge an FIR either.

According to officials, the incident took place around 1.30pm, when Parveen was preparing lunch in the kitchen on the first floor of the house, while her husband Mohammad Zaheer and their 17-year-old daughter were on the ground floor.

“The family’s was constructing a structure on the second floor of the house. Due to the poor quality of materials and the continuous rain since Saturday, the under-construction structure on the second floor collapsed. As a result, the ceiling of the first floor also collapsed and the debris hit the victim in the kitchen,” Dr Rakesh Mishra, circle officer (Sahibabad), said.
