NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court has upheld the 10-year jail term given to a man for repeatedly raping and committing unnatural sex with his stepdaughter. The court remarked that east Delhi resident Yogesh exploited the 13-year-old girl.

Justice SP Garg dismissed his appeal against the judgment passed by a trial court last year that had sentenced him to 10-year jail after holding him guilty for the offences under sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC.
“The victim was a 13-year-old child and the perpetrator of the crime was her own stepfather who raped her several times,” the court said.
Police said an FIR was lodged in 2012 against Yogesh on the statement of the victim’s mother that he had been raping the minor for last two years.
The counsel appearing for Yogesh argued in the high court that there were material discrepancies in the prosecution case and his client was not the stepfather of the girl. He further claimed that Yogesh was falsely implicated in the case as he objected to victim’s relations with a boy living in the neighbourhood.
