One nabbed for thrashing minor to death in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly beating a minor boy to death last Monday.

The 15-year-old boy had been tied to a tree and thrashed to death at Kalcheena in Modi Nagar town of Ghaziabad by six men for allegedly lurking around a neighbour’s house late at night.

A case was later registered at the Bhojpur police station.

Police identified the arrested accused as one Mustaqeem. He along with five others — Irfan, Saleem, Nadeem, Wasim and Naushad, all of who are absconding — had been booked for rioting, criminal intimidation and murder with common intention.

“The accused has told us that the boy had gone out of his house to urinate at round 12.30am on Monday. As he was relieving himself, a girl from his neighbour’s house saw him in the dark and raised an alarm.

The family members of the girl later nabbed the boy, tied him up and started thrashing him accusing him of having tried to molest the girl,” said Rajesh Sharma, station house officer, Loni.

The boy suffered severe internal and external injuries to which he succumbed later. “We are hunting for the other five persons named in the FIR,” he added.

The post-mortem report of the boy said that he had died of shock and haemorrhage and had at least 12 injuries like contusions and abrasions over his body. There was also a deposit of blood in his abdominal cavity.

The family of the victim had later alleged delay in arrest and inaction by police in nabbing the accused.

They had also claimed that the family members of the girl had prevented them at gunpoint from trying to save the boy.
