NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man lost his life when his scooter rammed a divider on Tuesday night.

Police said Mohammad Imran (27) and his friend Gulfam (23) were on a scooter and returning to their home at the time of the accident. Gulfam survived and told police that Imran had hit a divider while trying to rescue a child crossing at the Zakir Hussain Marg.
Investigation revealed that Imran was returning from Connaught Place where he had gone to celebrate his friend’s birthday. At around 10 pm, Imran left with his Gulfam. The two were allegedly driving without a helmet.
Police said the preliminary investigation suggested Imran died of head injuries. An officer said that it appeared Imran would have been saved if he was wearing a helmet. Minutes after the accident, the two were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where Imran was declared brought in dead. His friend Gulfam suffered minor head injuries.
“Gulfam told us Imran rammed into the divider because he was trying to save a homeless child crossing the road ,” said a police officer.
