The police detained Praveen on Monday morning after Kumar accused him and his friend of leaking the CD. The police said Praveen was let off on Monday night after eight hours of questioning.

Kumar, minister of social welfare, women and child development, appointed Praveen, who works as an auditor in the Delhi government, as his personal secretary.

Kumar was sacked after the CD showing him with two women in a compromising position surfaced last week.

Police sources said during their joint interrogation, Praveen accused one of his friends Mahipal of leaking the CD.

“Mahipal is a common childhood friend of the two. Kumar accused Praveen of leaking the CD, but we have not found any evidence of it. We will now interrogate Mahipal, who is also a Delhi government employee,” said an investigating officer.

Prima facie, Praveen accessed the video on Kumar’s cell phone and shared it with Mahipal.

The police said they also questioned Om Prakash, who had given the CD to a news channel, on the day Kumar was sacked. Prakash said an unknown person gave him the CD four days ago.

Investigating officer said one of the videos might be shot in 2010 as shown by a calendar in it. Sources said Kumar told the police he knew both the women in the CD.

One of the women filed rape charges against the former minister on Saturday.

The woman has accused Kumar of sedating her drink and raping her, when she sought his help in getting a ration card.
