Three killed as overloaded truck topples
NEW DELHI: Three men were killed when an overloaded truck they were travelling in rammed into a divider and overturned in outer Delhi’s Alipur early on Saturday.
Bachcha Yadav (40), Pawan Yadav (31) and Dilip (30) were sitting on cement sacks in the truck. During the accident, they were thrown on the road and crushed under the sacks. The truck was going towards National Highway 1, from Narela Road.
The truck driver, who was injured, complained to the police control room. The men were rushed to a hospital but were declared dead on arrival. “In his statement, the truck driver said the truck was in great speed and overloaded. He could not balance the steering and the truck overturned,” a senior police officer said.
“The driver and his helper in the driver’s cabin escaped with minor injuries. The three men sitting on the sacks were thrown on the road crushed under the sacks,” he said.
The truck was seized and a case of causing death by negligence and rash driving was registered against the driver, an investigator said.
