A man and his nephew have been sentenced to life imprisonment for gunning down a person, who had objected to their sending obscene messages and making crank calls to his mother and sister.

Holding the duo guilty of committing the murder, the court said both the convicts had the intention of causing death of the victim which is why they shot at his forehead.

"They are sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life," Additional Sessions Judge, T S Kashyap said, while imposing a fine of R5,000 each.

According to the prosecution, north-east Delhi residents Shahid and Nooruddin had shot victim, Ikramuddin in April 2008. Police said, Shahid used to misbehave with the victim's sister and send obscene messages to the women of the house.

The convict, however, had claimed that his nephew, Shahid was having an affair with Ikramuddin's sister and the victim's family was against the relation.
