Police said, Ashwani (26), a waiter who works at tent houses, was apprehended from Satya Niketan for murdering Sheetal on October 20 at his residence in the Shakti Vihar area where he was staying with his second wife. Ashwani was in love with another woman and suspected his wife of being unfaithful to him.

“Ashwani had married Sheetal after a love affair. However, later he got suspicious about her character. He also fell in love another woman, identified as Neha, and married her. This had led to daily domestic fights with Sheetal and so he decided to get rid of her,” said a senior police officer.

According to police, in order to get rid of Sheetal, Ashwani had also shifted to a rented accommodation in Shakti Vihar with Neha. “Sheetal came to know about this address and also moved-in at the said address since the last 10-12 days. He had given a false name to his landlord to get the accommodation,” the officer added.

On the night of October 19, there was a fight between Ashwani and Sheetal. So, on the evening of the next day, Ashwani told Neha to leave him alone with Sheetal on the pretext of talking to her but fled after strangulating her instead, police said.
