“Acting on a tip-off that some people were planning to loot a copper factory in Jhilmil Industrial Area, the police arrested six person — Dilshad (27), Sabbu (35), Idrees (28), Istkhar (25), Rahisuddin (21) and Shavi (26) — on Thursday night from near DSIDC factory complex,” northeast DCP Sanjay Kumar Jain said.
Two loaded countrymade pistols, four live cartridges and two button-actuated knifes were also recovered from them, he said.
During interrogation, the arrested confessed that they were planning to rob the factory as they got information that a large amount of cash was there after a huge sale proceed, the DCP claimed.
According to the police, two of the arrested were notorious criminals and six cases were registered against them in various police stations in the city.
