80-year-old man stabbed to death in south Delhi

An 80-year-old man was stabbed to death and his wife critically injured during a robbery attempt by four unidentified men at their residence.

An 80-year-old man was stabbed to death and his wife critically injured during a robbery attempt by four unidentified men at their residence early on Monday.

The incident took place at the residence of M M Gulati in Sukhdev Vihar in south Delhi at around one am, a senior police official said.

Four men barged into the residence of Gulati, a retired Railway official, and threatened him and his wife, Indraprabha (75), asking for money, the official said.

When they resisted, the robbers stabbed both of them and fled away with Rs 17,000 kept in the house.

The couple was rushed to AIIMS where Gulati was declared brought dead.

Indraprabha suffered serious injuries and is admitted to the AIIMS Trauma centre.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
