Singh said that there was no evidence to suggest that the character of Arushi, the teenaged victim, was "bad" or her father Rajesh, a dentist who has been arrested for allegedly killing her and family help Hemraj, was having an "extra-marital affair".

"How can police say without evidence that Rajesh was having a relationship with another woman. Does it mean that UP Police intelligence has its eyes in all bedrooms," he told reporters on the sidelines of an international conference on terrorism in New Delhi.

"The way in which the probe has been conducted is nothing but state terrorism," Singh, a leader of opposition party in UP, added.

Singh alleged that police were coming out with theories everyday like "honour killing" to hide facts.
