The activists said that they would plead before the Delhi High Court to order a probe by a Special Investigating Team in the case.

"Human Rights activists are appalled by the clean chit given by NHRC to the special cell on the Batla House encounter, without any investigation and without even addressing the disquieting issue that had been raised by the independent reports of them," the NGO, on whose plea the Court had ordered probe, said in a press release.

"Since the NHRC report does not address or answer the disquieting questions raised by the several independent fact finding reports about encounter, it is therefore essential that there be an investigation into the encounter by an SIT appointed by the High Court," it said.

"The report shows that far from conducting any investigation into the matter, the commission has merely relied upon the police report for its report. They have not even examined or investigated the questions raised by us on the basis of which the High Court had directed the inquiry," the NGO, 'Act Now For Harmony and Democracy', said.
