Overnight rains in parts of the Capital brought down the temperature to below normal level on Sunday.

The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 36.7 degrees Celsius — two degrees below normal — almost four notches below compared to Saturday's maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature at 23.6 degrees Celsius was also four notches below day before's 27.1 degrees Celsius.

The cool can be attributed to a rainfall of 1.6 mm till 8.30 a.m. but there was no rainfall recorded during the day on Sunday, Met officials said.

The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky on Monday with maximum temperature likely to touch 40 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature remaining at around 26 degrees Celsius.

“The trend of rising mercury will continue for two to three days now,” the weatherman said. Delhi had experienced showers on Saturday evening that shot down temperature by six degrees Celsius.
