A senior lecturer of AIIMS was arrested early on Monday on suspicion of leaking MBBS entrance test question papers, but the premier health institute denied any breach of secrecy on the issue.
AIIMS denied that there was any leak of question papers after verifying the 'papers' allegedly recovered from the lecturer with that of the original set.
The entrance test was conducted as per schedule today at 92 centres across the country for which around 45,000 students appeared for 72 seats, an AIIMS spokesperson said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Ghaziabad) Akhil Kumar said they detained three persons, including Meena Aggarwal, the lecturer, from her residence in Kavi Nagar area in the early hours along with the girls.
Later, ASP Happy Gupta said Aggarwal was arrested under Section 420 of the IPC on charges of hoax and fraud after a complaint was filed against her by one Ratna Srivastava.
She will be produced in a Ghaziabad court on Tuesday, Gupta said.
Aggarwal is a resident of Ghaziabad and according to the parents of the girls, she allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from each person for the 'leaked' question papers, Kumar said.
The girls, whose identities were not revealed, were to take the entrance test on Monday. Gupta added that the girls were later released. A team of police also rushed to AIIMS to verify the papers recovered.
