Air Force orders inquiry into hard landing in Jorhat

Air Force has ordered a court of inquiry (CoI) into an incident of 'hard landing' by a transport aircraft in Jorhat last week.

Air Force has ordered a court of inquiry (CoI) into an incident of 'hard landing' by a transport aircraft in Jorhat last week.

IAF oficials said here that in the incident, the nose wheel of a medium lift AN 32 aircraft was damaged.

Air Force operates a squadron in Jorhat, Assam to maintain movement of personnel and material in the strategic North-East region.

Considered the workhorse of the IAF, AN 32 is a twin engine turbo propeller aircraft designed to withstand adverse weather conditions.

During 2011, IAF witnessed eight mishaps involving its aircraft.
