Army captain detained

An Indian Army captain has been detained by the police for his alleged involvement in a murder which took place in Sadar Bazar area of Delhi Cantonment on May 16.

An Indian Army captain has been detained by the police for his alleged involvement in a murder which took place in Sadar Bazar area of Delhi Cantonment on May 16.

Captain Sunil Thakur, an officer of the judge advocate general (JAG) branch, was detained by the police a few days ago for his suspected involvement in the case. He is posted at the principal bench of Armed Force Tribunal (AFT) here.

“The officer is presently under detention. Details are being collected for his alleged involvement in a murder case,” an army official said.

According to preliminary information, the officer strangulated a civilian on the night of May 16, army officials said. Police started investigating the case after recovery of the body on May 19. PTI
