"I feel ashamed that the government of my country failed to save him despite the threats to his life. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should quit immediately," Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit's sister, told reporters at the Attari border on Wednesday, after returning with the family from Lahore.

The family will meet home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Thursday. They also plan to meet the PM, UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and external affairs minister Salman Khurshid.

Sarabjit, 49, suffered head injuries in a jail assault.
