‘Better at reducing flyers’ hassles now’

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has claimed that it is better prepared to minimise inconvenience to passengers during fog this season. To accommodate stranded flyers, seating capacity at Terminal 3 has been increased from 12,000 to 13,150. HT reports.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has claimed that it is better prepared to minimise inconvenience to passengers during fog this season. To accommodate stranded flyers, seating capacity at Terminal 3 has been increased from 12,000 to 13,150.

“Terminal 3 (T3) and Terminal 1D (T1D) are now adequately equipped for the fog period. The facilities will not just give timely information to travellers, but will also provide them with all possible amenities,” Marcel Hungerbuenler, chief operating officer of DIAL, said.

But on Monday, all these tall claims of providing real-time information fell flat. DIAL is now trying to improve the situation. “To update the status on website, we need information from airlines,” IP Rao, DIAL’s CEO, said. DIAL also said that in case of delays, passengers can avail the facility of transit hotels recently opened at T3.

Runways 28, 29 and 11 are certified for CAT III B operations. “Also, 145 parking bays have been provided CAT III compatible lighting systems, 15 bays more than last year,” he added.

To keep passengers updated, weather-related information will also be displayed inside T3.
