With the BJP facing dissidence in Karnataka, Congress today said the party was a house divided and suffered from an identity crisis.

"The BJP is a house divided. It is suffering from an identity crisis..." party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan told reporters here.

She was reacting to a question on dissidence in the Karnataka BJP as rebel MLAs and ministers in the state there are demanding the replacement of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

The spokesperson refused to answer a question if the Congress would intervene in the issue and look for opportunities to form a government in the state.

"We would only like to add that the country is watching in dismay as the main Opposition party was disintegrating," she said.
