BJP raps Delhi Govt for failing to check crime against woman

Raising the issue in the Assembly, several BJP members demanded strong action against the accused and said city government has failed "miserably" to check crime against woman.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit condemned the incident and said the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has been directed to probe the allegations.

A woman from the Inderpuri area had claimed she was raped by the Station House Officer and four other policemen in a police station in south-west Delhi.

Though a case is yet to be registered, Delhi Police transfered the investigations to Crime Branch, besides sending the Inderpuri SHO Pradeep Kumar to Police Lines to ensure "free and fair probe".

Delhi Police has said the preliminary medical examination report of the woman suggested that she was not raped.
