Boy with homeless heart finds a home

The 12-day-old boy was born with rare condition Ectopia Cordis, with his heart completely protruding through his chest. The yet-to-be-named boy was born to daily wage labourer Chander Majhi in Muzaffarpur, who refused to accept him because of his deformity.

With the help of a few journalists and local doctors, Majhi could bring his infant son to Delhi for treatment.

Now founder of Sulabh movement, Bindeshwar Pathak, has decided to adopt the baby.

Sulabh is a social organisation that works closely with AIIMS and other Delhi hospitals. It provides them manpower for sanitation, cleaning and other non-technical work.

On coming to know about the infant’s plight, Pathak not only decided to adopt him but also provide all possible help to family members.

Pathak has also promised to provide employment to Majhi, besides provision of free education to this miracle baby.

“It was my own instinct that made me decide to adopt this baby who arrived on earth with such a rare disease,” said Pathak.

Pathak is also from Sitamarhi district of north Bihar, the same place where the child was born.
