An enraged minibus driver struck a woman’s head with an iron rod and punched her husband till he started bleeding in east Delhi on Wednesday. The woman’s fault: she had asked the bus driver to drive carefully.

This is the seventh incident of ‘road rage’ in the past two months on Delhi streets.
Roshan Jahan and her husband, Dr Abid Khan, were on their way to drop their five-year-old son Hamid to Evergreen School in Vasundhra around 8 a.m. As they were passing through Trilokpuri Block 18, Mayur Vihar, a minibus suddenly came in front of their vehicle from the wrong side. It was on school duty and was carrying three children, the police said.
“Had my husband not applied the brake hard, the bus would have rammed into our car and it could have been fatal. My son was also in the car. I instinctively shouted ‘zara dekh kar chalao’,” said Jahan.
The driver of the bus, Vikki, then got down and hit Jahan on her face. “My wife threatened to call the police. Hearing this, the driver took out an iron rod from the bus and hit my wife on her head. She immediately collapsed and became unconscious,” said Khan. As Dr Khan came out of his car to help his injured wife, the driver hit him too. His son was also hurt in the incident.
The driver has been arrested. A case of criminal intimidation, assault and outraging a woman’s modesty has been registered against him, the police said.
