Since it was the opening day, not many customers visited the site. The North Corporation, which owns the haat, expects a bigger crowd in the weekends.
The haat has 39 stalls and a food court. The municipal body has leased it out to the textile ministry and some registered NGOs working for women empowerment.
The Mahila Haat at the Asaf Ali car parking at Delhi Gate was conceived in 2009 by the erstwhile MCD.
It as earlier scheduled to be completed before the Commonwealth Games at the cost of Rs. 2 crore.
