On Thursday the day temperature hovered around 24.5 degree Celsius that was two degrees above normal. The minimum stood at 7 degree Celsius.
“December is almost at an end and I still don't feel the need to pull out my thick woollens. The winter this year has been unusually warm till now,” said Anubha Sharma, a student.
Though most Delhiites are missing the chill, Met officials disagree with the perception that winter this time is not as nippy as ones experienced in the past.
“A comparison of the temperature on a particular date over the last couple of years is not good enough to conclude that this month has been unusually warm. If you look at the temperature on Christmas last year, you’ll see that it was much hotter then,” said BP Yadav, director, Indian Meterological Department.
The national capital experienced the season’s warmest day on December 9 when the mercury recorded a maximum temperature of 27.9 degree Celsius.
The Met department has predicted a bright and clear sky for the day with mist enveloping the sky in the night. The weatherman said the minimum temperature is likely to hover around seven degrees in the coming days due to arrival of winds from Northern states.
