The Noida Police Deputy Superintendent of Police, R.N. Mishra confirmed this to HT, saying, “We have charged the accused for rape, abduction, dacoity and robbery/dacoity with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.” The chargesheet, the DSP said, was submitted recently.
If found guilty for the rape, the accused would have to undergo a minimum of seven years of jail-term which could be extended to 10 years or a life-term; if convicted for dacoity, a court can sentence them to a jail term of up to 10 years, he added.
The accused, part of a local cricket team, were returning after playing a tournament in Bulandshaher, when they spotted the victim along with her male companion at a desolate spot on the day of the incident.
In their confession, the accused told the police they had seen the victim and her companion in an intimate state inside a car after which they targeted her.
The accused had beaten up the male companion and then raped the girl, taking turns. One of the accused, Gautam, had raped her twice.
