Child rights panel to reopen case against cop
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has decided to reopen the case against the former Inspector General of Meerut Range, Gurdarshan Singh, following the latest findings by the CBI.
“We have sent another notice to UP police. We want to ensure Aarushi gets justice,” said Sandhya Bajaj, a member of the commission.
Former IG Gurdarshan Singh had claimed that Rajesh Talwar had killed Aarushi and Hemraj because he found them in an “objectionable but not a compromising” position. After the CBI gave a clean chit to Talwar, Bajaj said that the wrong image of a father has been cleansed.
The UP Police had told the panel that they had accused Talwar on the basis of Krishna’s statement. They blamed Krishna for shifting focus from him to Talwar. The Noida Police had interrogated Krishna after Hemraj’s body was discovered. But he was able to give the slip to the police by creating an impression that Talwar was not happy with the ‘relation’ between Aarushi and Hemraj.
