The Capital recorded a minimum of 4.3 degrees Celsius on Friday morning — three degrees below what is normal for this time of the year.

The maximum temperature rose slightly and was recorded as 15.6 degree Celsius as against Thursday’s maximum of 14.5 degrees.

Fog was seen in the early hours of the morning and it disrupted train and flight schedules. According to the weatherman, the weather will continue to remain the same in the coming days.

"Cold weather conditions are set to continue during the weekend as well. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to be around 16 degrees and 4 degrees on Saturday," said an official from the India Meteorological Department. The Met department has predicted a foggy morning on Saturday.

The cold wave has persisted throughout this week and the maximum temperatures, too, have slid below 15 degree Celsius on several occasions.

Delhi recorded the coldest day of this winter season on Tuesday, with both minimum and maximum temperatures dropping to the season's lowest of 3.7 degrees and 12.7 degrees, respectively.

Meanwhile, low temperatures, coupled with icy winds, made life difficult for people in the Capital, as it recorded at least eight cold-related deaths in the past three weeks.

According to Met statistics, the record for the highest maximum for the month of January was 32.5 degree Celsius recorded on January 28, 2004.

The record minimum is 0.6 degree Celsius, recorded on January 16, 1935.
