College girl jumps to death, 2 boys booked

A first-year BTech student of Manav Rachna University allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of a building on Monday.

According to university officials, the incident took place at 9.45pm on Monday. The victim, Heena Kakkar, jumped from the third floor of the university's hostel building. She was taken to a private hospital, where she died.

Her parents have lodged a police complaint, in which they have held two boys - Abhishek and Vivek - responsible for her death. Abhishek is a student of the university, but her parents do not know Vivek.

The police have launched a manhunt to nab the two boys. "We have registered a case against Abhishek and Vivek under Section 306 of the IPC," said Ratandeep Bali, SHO, Surajkund police station, adding that the girl's "post-mortem report confirmed that she died of injuries due to fall."

Meanwhile, the university has suspended Abhishek.
