Ravinder Singh, the constable, was at the CCI picket in Tughlaqabd when the incident took place on Saturday. According to Singh’s complaint, Deepak, his brother Manish and friend Eklavya came in a sports utility vehicle to ask for the permission.

A senior police officer said the youths wanted Singh to allow their truck to enter the village in the day, which is against rules.

“Singh denied them permission, triggering an argument. Deepak assaulted him and fled the spot in their vehicle,” the officer said.

“Singh was admitted in AIIMS for treatment,” the officer added.
