Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked the Information and Broadcasting ministry to take on board all stakeholders before finalising the Broadcast Regulation Bill and the content code.

This in a way ends any chances of the bill being introduced in the monsoon session of Parliament as earlier stated by Information and Broadcasting minister P R Dasmunsi. The PM had also told Dasmunsi that the issues raised by broadcasters and other stakeholders should be examined in detail before the new television regulation law is finalised.

Thereafter, Munsi said that the bill would not be introduced in the monsoon session and there would be another round of consultations with the stakeholders before the final draft of the proposed law is prepared.
