Sanjiv Kumar from Gharaunda was summoned at the police station along with his father Chand Singh following some dispute with some neighbours. The other party was also called to arrive at a compromise.

However, five policemen, including munshi Vinod Kumar, allegedly beat Sanjiv Kumar when he said he saw a 'bomb-like' object in the toilet of the police station.

Sources said Sanjiv fainted after the beating and was taken to a private hospital, from where he was referred to the trauma centre in Karnal. His condition was reported to be stable.

Deptuy superintendent of police Surinder Singh Bhoria visited the victim in the hospital to inquire into the matter.

Meanwhile, Rohtak inspector general of police V Kamaraja has directed the Karnal SP to investigate the matter and take prompt action against the erring cops.
