The Delhi Police on Tuesday night conducted a raid in the capital’s GB Road area and claimed to have rescued three women who had been pushed into the flesh trade business. Police said one of the rescued women was HIV-infected and was undergoing treatment for it, while another woman was the mother of a three-year-old.

The raid, officers said, was conducted with the help members of an NGO.

Two women, aged 22 and 25, from Andhra Pradesh and another 23-year-old woman from Karnataka were rescued from brothel No 42, they claimed.

All those rescued were being kept in small rooms designed for hiding the sex workers. Prodded for details, a police officer said some people had lured the women to GB Road in central Delhi 10 months ago on the pretext of providing them with jobs. Raids were being conducted to nab the culprits, while the victims had been sent to a rehabilitation centre in the city.
