Court acquits man of rape, kidnapping charges

A city court has acquitted a man who was charged with kidnapping and raping a minor girl after she had eloped and married him.

A city court has acquitted a man who was charged with kidnapping and raping a minor girl after she had eloped and married him.

The case was filed against Vinod Kumar. The father did not approve of the inter-caste marriage.

The accused, a North West Delhi resident was let off by Additional Sessions Judge, Kamini Lau, who declared, “I hold that the girl being a major had eloped and married the accused voluntarily. So, the accused cannot be acquitted.”
