Court rejects Katara's bail plea

The Delhi High Court dismisses the bail plea of Babubhai Katara, who was arrested last week while trying to smuggle out a woman and a teenage boy to Toronto.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of Bharatiya Janata Party MP Babubhai Katara, who was arrested last week while trying to smuggle out a woman and a teenage boy to Toronto.

Justice Reva Kehetarpal dismissed the plea of the suspended BJP MP, whose arrest lifted the lid of a massive human trafficking racket, saying that it should be filed in the appropriate lower court.

Katara's aide Rajendra Kumar Gampa and others questioned in the case have disclosed the names of at least four other MPs involved in the racket.

Katara was held at the international airport in New Delhi on Tuesday along with a woman, Paramjit Kaur, and a boy, Amarjeet Singh, who were posing as his wife and son. They were travelling on the diplomatic passports of the MP's family.
