Additional sessions judge Sanjeev Aggarwal asked the outer Delhi's deputy commissioner to apprise the court of guidelines and practices adopted by the police to preserve such samples with them.
The court sought the crucial details on preservation of samples after noting that blood and other medical samples of the accused and the victim in a rape case had decayed much before they were sent to the forensic laboratory for test.
"This is a matter of serious concern," the court said adding that in most cases, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report concludes that the medical sample was found putrefied and unable to be put to forensic test.
