It has been perceived that Muslim leaders have not been forthcoming in their support for the liberation of Tibet. Coordinator for the visit, Deepak Sharma, confirmed the Dalai Lama’s participation.

The Dalai Lama’s interaction with Muslims in India has increased in recent months. On May 31 and June 1, he participated at an anti-terror seminar organised by Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Abdullah Bukhari. His visit is being seen as another attempt to spread the message that he wants the support for the Tibetan cause.
