Professors at PDUIPH, which is affiliated with Delhi University (DU), have decided to refrain from conducting classes for two days, following an irregularity in their pay scale and designations. While the UGC provision requires the institute to hire 20 assistant professors, there are only two assistant professors who are on the institute's payroll who cater to 700 students.

"There are no professors and no associate professors. Those who have been hired afresh are not ranked as assistant professors. We will be suspending classes from January 11 to 13 in order to protest against the prevailing situation. Even the students are protesting against the administration," said a professor at PDUIPH.

The faculty members claim that the students have to rely on the technical and clinical staff for classroom teaching. "The quality of education is suffering in the institute. We have to request the technical staff to conduct lectures so that we can finish the syllabus. It is shameful that no one cares about the students," he added.
