Deaf and mute boy sexually assaulted by hostel warden

A 14-year-old deaf and mute student, residing at the hostel of a prominent school in Ghaziabad, was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 72-year-old hostel warden in the boys' hostel, late on Thursday night, police said. Peeyush Khandelwal reports.

The minor resided at the Asha Vidyalaya hostel of Ingraham Institute English School at Hapur Crossing and was a student of class IV at the Chaudhary Morh branch of the same institution.

"We received a complaint from a group of boys that their friend was allegedly sexually-assaulted by their hostel warden, Jay Singh. We have reported the matter to the police and lodged a complaint about the incident," said Hipesh Shephard, director, Ingraham Institute English School.

School officials said that the incident was reported to them around 10am on Friday morning by the group of boys.

"We immediately sent the victim to our private doctor for medical examination and suspended the hostel warden with immediate effect,” said Shephard.

“He is under police detention. A team of our officials is also inquiring into the incident as part of a committee," he added.

The minor is a resident of Rudrapur area of Uttrakhand and his parents were later informed by the local relatives.

"We were informed about the incident. The child is too scared to say anything. He is weeping and is too apprehensive to go for a medical examination," said the minor's aunt, who resides at Sahibabad.

Kavi Nagar station house officer Vijay Kumar said that they received a complaint to the effect from school officials and are yet to register a case against warden Jay Singh.

"After the complaint was received, we have sent the boy for medical examination at MMG district hospital," Kumar said. Senior Superintendent of Police Raghubir Lal said that a 'proper' case would be registered against the accused if the allegations were found true.
