Delhi: Central Delhi to be fully WiFi-enabled soon
Central Delhi is likely to have internet access in every nook and corner as the New Delhi Municipal Council is planning to make the council area fully WiFi-enabled.

"We are working towards making NDMC a fully WiFi-enabled area. We have finalised the design for common streetlight poles with LED lights, security cameras and WiFi antennas to save costs," said NDMC chairperson Jalaj Shrivastava, while presenting the council's budget for the financial year 2014-15 on Wednesday.
"In Bangalore, they have tried a similar campaign. Such a system is available in major cities of the world. It will be absolutely for free up to 15-30 minutes. Thereafter, it might be chargeable," he said. The council also announced a comprehensive plan for non-motorised transport in the council area, full automation of the surface parking lots, CCTVs to monitor the entire public space and redevelopment of four main markets - Khan Market, Gole Market, Sarojini Nagar Market and INA Dilli Haat.
The budget also has plans to upgrade the solid waste management (environment sanitation) through waste management system and end-to-end solution by collecting garbage from doorsteps and transporting it for disposal at Timarpur-Okhla Waste Management Co. Ltd Plant.
The NDMC chairperson said there are plans to construct transfer stations to increase efficiency in collection of waste.
