DPCC president Jai Prakash Agarwal, who is also a Member of Parliament, was the chief guest at the meet.

The organisers of the sammelan presented a memorandum to Agarwal, wherein they provided details regarding problems faced by farmers and asked him to resolve the issues.

“He assured all the farmers that the matters raised by them would taken up with the government and solve them soon,” said an officer bearer of DPCC.

One of the major points of the memorandum was regarding land acquisition rates, which was last increased in 2007.

Farmers demanded that it should be hiked again considering the prevailing land prices. “They suggested that a committee, which should include the representatives of the farmers, should be constituted to suggest revised rates,” he added.
