While a final decision on the dissolution of Delhi Assembly and holding of fresh elections or BJP attempting to form a government is yet to be taken, the party has been launching several initiatives to connect with the voters, specially the youngsters. Bypolls to three Delhi assembly seats is due on November 25.

To counter the reach on social media of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which the BJP has declared is its main opponent, the party in a meeting on Sunday decided to launch a new hashtag, #DelhineedBJP, on social media sites -- Twitter and Facebook. The party has also decided to hold public meetings at strategic places like near metro stations, markets that are frequented by a number of people.

“AAP has a strong presence on social media and its volunteers update every small detail which helps the party connect with voters. So far we have been concentrating on traditional mediums but now we need to target those social media. The information provided on social media helps in forming opinions too,” said a senior BJP leader.

By-elections for the three assembly segments -- Krishna Nagar, Mehrauli and Tughlakabad will be held on November 25 and the last date for filing for nomination is November 5.

“It has been decided that we will highlight issues relevant to these three constituencies as well as those related to the party as a whole,” added another senior leader.

Not only this, all party workers from the three constituencies have been asked to create groups on WhatsApp of up to 50 people to inform them about the work done by BJP. “This is a good informal way of being in touch with the voters and informing them about the work that is being done by the party in Delhi and at the national-level too,” said a senior BJP leader.
