Delhi is cool for second day with rain and wind

Two days of rainfall and winds brought down the maximum temperature in the city to 30.3 degrees, six degrees below normal, on Wednesday. The minimum too was recorded at a cool 21.1 degrees, normal for this time of the year.

The coming three days are expected to see similar temperatures as well, with rainfall forecast for Thursday and Friday.

“Last week it was so hot that no one would have expected the weather to be this pleasant. Hopefully, this would stretch for a longer time,” said Simi Verma, a resident of Panchsheel Enclave.

According to the weatherman, the heat will return next week. “The effect of the western disturbance that brought rain to many parts of northern India will wane by the beginning of next week. The heat will be back then,” the Weatherman said.

On Wednesday, the city recorded 5.6 mm of rainfall at Safdarjung.

The maximum temperature saw a drop of 7.5 degrees as compared to Tuesday’s maximum of 37.8 degrees Celsius.

Hundreds of people could be seen lounging about at India Gate.

“We don’t get the opportunity to go out with family in summers because of the heat but the sudden rainfall and pleasant weather gave us the opportunity,” said Taranjit Singh, a resident of Paschim Vihar.
