Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel will be deployed to guard the high-profile Civic Centre, the MCD’s new headquarters in central Delhi. “CISF personnel will man the Civic Centre of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Also, there will be a specialised access security system (which records photo of the entrant at the building and has a bar coded admit card) at the new headquarters,” MCD commissioner KS Mehra said at a meeting of the standing committee on Wednesday.

When several councillors asked him about the Civic Centre, the highest building in Delhi at 112 metres tall and built at a cost of R650 crore, Mehra said except the deliberative wing, rest of the departments of the civic body have shifted to the new premises. The department of press and information has also shifted.

The civic body had planned an elaborate shifting programme, which was supposed to be over by December 8. However, due to incomplete work at several floors and missing furniture, the shifting has been taking place at a slow pace. The commissioner also said there will be a separate ‘public hearing hall’ at the new premises.
